Kindergarten
registration day rescheduled for March 23

Registration for junior and senior kindergarten
at Rhema Christian School has been rescheduled for
Friday, March 23.
Parents enrolling their children
for the first time in the kindergarten programs
at the school are invited to the school for an
hour-long session on Friday morning. Two sessions
will take place, one from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and
the second from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Parents are
asked to call the school to make an appointment
for the session they would prefer to attend.
The hour will involve some discussion
with Principal Ray Hendriks about options for
next year, including a possible daycare component,
according to Rena Ridley, office administrator.
“This is something we’re
looking at… It’s very much in the
preliminary stages,” says Rena. If parents
indicate a strong interest in the daycare program,
a recommendation may be made to the Board, she
says.
The session will also include completing
some necessary documentation, as well as an opportunity
to get a little acquainted with the kindergarten
program.
Parents are invited to bring their
children, who will be able to meet future fellow-students
and teachers, and do some activities in their
new classroom.
Registration is one of a number
of steps for admission, Rena notes. Typically
it is preceded by a tour of the school and a thorough
orientation to the school’s vision, mission
and values.
It is very important that parents
understand what Christian education is and especially
what Rhema is all about, says Rena.
While official kindergarten registration
is taking place this Friday, parents are welcome
to make an appointment for an orientation session
and registration at any time, says Rena.
“We just encourage people
to make up their minds as early as possible,”
she says, adding that doing so can benefit the
parents in terms of establishing direction for
the new school-year, and it helps the school prepare
in terms of class-size and other factors, like
the potential day-care program.
Registration was originally
scheduled for Friday, March 2, but it had to be
postponed due to inclement weather.
