Grade Seven ROCKS at the
Peterborough Golf & Country Club
From December 4th to 7th, the Grade Seven class
were guests of the Peterborough Golf & Country
Club.
We learned how to curl!
Starting with an hour long introduction and orientation
to the sport in class, we spent an hour a day immersed
in the long and storied history of the Scottish
sport of curling. Under the excellent leadership
of David Looyen (PGCC's General Manager), Susan
Clark and Aaron MacDonald, the students experienced
the game in its many facets.
The week of skills practice
culminated in two days of intense competition.
Even though we learned that curling requires warm
clothing, good balance and a great deal of patience,
we had an excellent time. Most students had not
really had any exposure to the sport and all were
impressed by just how difficult it is to be a
good curler.
Thanks to David, Susan and Aaron
for their patience and to
Peterborough Golf & Country Club for providing
this unique and
outstanding learning opportunity to us! What a
blast!
