Dinner
& auction brings community together:
Annual event to be held on
Friday, April 22, 2005.
Thursday,
April 14, 2005 - LeeAnne Lavender
In a few weeks the Rhema Christian School
community will gather together for a
wonderful night of fellowship, laughter
and fun. The third annual dinner/auction
fundraiser will be held in the Rhema
gymnasium, and will be a night that
parents and school supporters will talk
about for weeks to come.
"This is a very successful fundraising
event," comments Sharon Hill, a
Rhema parent and a member of the dinner/auction
committee. "Every year
it is so much fun, and everyone really
enjoys getting together, sharing an
excellent meal and bidding on auction
items."
There will be numerous silent auction
items at the event, and there will also
be a live auction featuring popular
items. One example of a live auction
items that has raised substantial amounts
of money in the
past is an evening out on the town,
at a local restaurant, with limo service
to and from the door (the limo is driven
each year by Rhema's principal, Ray
Hendriks). Another hot item last year,
which will be offered again this year,
is a family canoe trip led by Mr. Hendriks,
teacher Dave Moon and parent Dean Solomon.
"There's a real variety of items,"
explains Sharon. "There is everything
from paintings and prints to handmade
items, a garden trellis, gift certificates,
a video slide show designed for a family
and an East Indian dinner for four."
This year's dinner will be catered,
by popular demand, by Chef Christopher.
The menu features an elegant offering
of fine food. A cruise ship theme, complete
with detailed decorations, will add
atmosphere.
Everyone is welcome to attend the event.
