| Second
annual dinner
auction
coming up
Friday, April

People are still talking about
last year’s dinner auction at
Rhema Christian School. In particular,
no one can forget the fierce bidding
war that went on for a limousine ride
and dinner with Principal Ray Hendriks.
Peter Pula went up against a group
including the Ulrichs, Kallers, Birrells
and Naylers for the prized dinner/ride
-- and lost. But not before everyone
had been hugely entertained.
"We had a phenomenal evening
last year," says Janice McGarrity,
co-chair for the dinner auction fundraising
committee.
She says this year’s dinner
auction promises to be even better.
Dinner is to be prepared by world-renowned
Chef Christopher whose son attends
the school. The gymnasium will be
transformed into a place of elegance
with decor and low lights. "It’s
not a jeans night," says Janice.
"People will want to dress up."
Considering last year’s experience,
people should be prepared to be entertained
by the bidding as well, says Jane
Ulrich, co-chair with Janice.
Some of the highlighted auction items
include the limousine ride and dinner
with Ray Hendriks, a camping trip
with three teachers and FCI window
replacements. Toys, artwork, coolers,
wooden trucks, birdhouses, kayak rentals,
pizza per month for a year will also
be auctioned. All of the items have
been donated to the school for the
auction.
The dinner auction is scheduled for
Friday, April 23. Doors open at 6
p.m. Dinner will be served at 7:30
p.m. The night will begin with a silent
auction and close with a live auction.
Last year close to $15,000 was raised
for the school. "It was a huge
success," says Janice. "Of
course, we’re trying to do a
little better this year."
Tickets for the dinner auction are
available for $30. The gymnasium has
a seating capacity of 200 people,
so space is limited. Call Jane at
748-4095 or Janice at 799-1822.
