Welcome to Rhema Christian School!
Our school was created by a group of parents who wanted to provide their children with Christ-centered education. It was founded in a fundamental belief that true Christian faith permeates all of life; and that this should be reflected in their children’s educations.

In September, 1979 Rhema Christian School opened its doors in the basement of Cephas Christian Reformed Church in Peterborough. Ever since then Rhema has been striving to fulfill its mission – to provide Christian day school education to as many people as possible, and to promote Christian day school education as a viable alternative to publicly funded schools.

In refining and defining what “Christian day school education” means, the Peterborough Christian School Society (an organization of parents, grandparents, and other interested people) has defined its vision as: work[ing] within a nurturing Christian community to promote the development of Christ-centered world view in students by providing an environment of excellence that fosters personal achievement.

The name “rhema” comes from the Greek language. It means: information in the form of words – almost always spoken words. John 6:63 says “. . . the words (rhema) which I have spoken to you are spirit and life.”
